Savory Starters For Your Fall Parties
Savory appetizers are safe options to whet your appetite for your mesmerizing fall dinner dishes because they’re easy to mix with any main course.
Yummy Savory Appetizers With Chicken
You and I all have the turkey sitting in the fridge these days. Therefore, I think it will be a great idea to make some starters from this meat.
1. Turkey Cranberry Pinwheels
You can’t miss turkey in your meal plan this season. Therefore, I think it’s a great idea to choose this ingredient for the appetizer recipe. My suggestion is these turkey cranberry pinwheels.
The easy-to-make and straightforward tortilla roll-ups will make a hit with friends and family with its mouth-watering creamy taste, soft texture, and a hint of sweetness. Just ensure that you have a handful of ingredients, then within less than an hour, you will be able to serve your guest.
2. Chicken Cranberry Brie Tartlets
Which is more suitable than tart pies to serve at a party? The chicken cranberry brie tartlets are the perfect finger food to open your festive dinner. You only need a few ingredients (which are all easy to buy) to make an excellent Fall appetizer.
It’s a really quick meal prep so try to make plenty of them. I’m sure that your guests will ask for more.
3. Chicken And Black Bean Nachos
Nacho is a beautiful idea for a friend-gathering meal. Imagine how many stories you can talk about by a nachos plate, countless!
Homemade nachos with fresh Fall ingredients will bring a warm and comfortable atmosphere for your party. All you need to do is pick up fresh seasonal vegetables from the market. Then combine them with chicken and beans to make the perfect chicken and black bean nachos.
Or you only need to wrap anything leftover in your fridge; the result is still good, anyway. Well, nothing can go wrong with chicken and beans!
Lastly, don’t forget to add in some of your favorite cheese to level up the game.
4. Chicken Enchilada Dip
Chicken enchilada is a famous Mexican food. Try it in a new form – dip, so that you can enjoy the dish with friends better. The recipe will include Rotel tomatoes, black beans, enchilada sauce, and a lot of cheeses (cream cheese is a must). Zesty chicken and cheese dip, who can say no?
You can serve chicken enchilada dip on Cinco de Mayo (as an authentic Mexican dish I think everyone should try) or simple nachos, pieces of bread. Doesn’t it sound perfect for your weekend getaway with friends in this cozy season?
Common Savory Appetizers With Pork
Now, let’s find out what Fall appetizers can be made from your most common leftover meat – pork. These appetizers will make your fall-inspired accompanying foods and main courses shine on the dinner table.
5. Slow-Cooker Cranberry BBQ Meatballs
These slow-cooker cranberry BBQ meatballs are a stunning appetizer and don’t take too much time. So you can focus more on the main courses. These BBQ meatballs are even better with suitable partners.
“Common ingredients, quick to prepare, and beautiful outcome” – That is my review. Only 5 minutes of preparation and let the stovetop do its duty. The best stovetop will be genuinely a handful at this time. In case you don’t have a stovetop, try to use a slow-cooker instead.
6. Cajun Sausage Puffs With Bourbon Mustard
If you find pigs in the blanket too familiar and boring, try these Cajun sausage puffs with bourbon mustard. The spicy taste from chicken sausages and the buttery flavor of baked pastries will amaze you like never before. This pie is a version of a pig in a blanket, but way better!
However, to complete the plate, you need to serve it with the yummy mustard sauce. The tangy, bourbon-spiked taste of it will enhance the taste of the puff profoundly. This plate especially fits those who love the strong flavor!
Learn an easy recipe to make cajun sausage puffs with bourbon mustard with me in this video.
7. Ham Biscuit Sandwiches With Apricot Mustard
Sweet, savory with a little bit of tangy – I’m talking about ham biscuit sandwiches with apricot mustard. This dish is a standard for country ham biscuits. It can be served in every kind of party, and of course, including Fall parties.
What is this? It is slices of country ham tucked inside flaky biscuits, slathering with an apricot preserve and Dijon mustard.
The appearance of apricot mustard will let the typical taste of ham biscuits change considerably. This layer will balance the richness of the meat and the buttermilk flavor inside the biscuit. This dish is perfect for serving as an individual appetizer or with side dishes (get my ideal idea of side dishes for pulled pork sandwiches).
8. Candied Bacon Smokies
Smokie meat is perfect for the Fall season. It is crunchy with a combination of both salty and sweet flavors. Addictive!
The great thing is that you can vary the taste depending on your preference: BBQ, spicier, milder by adjusting the sauce at the beginning.
Prepare beforehand, then put them in the crockpot in warm mode and serve when the time is right.
9. Pull-Apart Pigs In A Blanket
Someone says, “Simple is the best”. When you run out of ideas for a Fall appetizer, why don’t you go back to the basic – a pull-apart pigs in a blanket plate.
The dish is familiar, but it stays as basic for some reason. The blistering crescent roll crust with American cheese and baked hot dogs are the perfect kill for all occasions, whether it’s formal or casual.
Savory Appetizers With Seafood Are Simple But Unique
Appetizers made from seafood always bring me a whole new atmosphere, especially in this cozy season.
10. Grilled Turnips With Dill Olive Oil
If you want a super quick and easy recipe for your Fall appetizer because you have a lot of remaining work to do with the main course, try these grilled turnips with dill olive oil.
This is the perfect farm-to-table recipe. It’s simple but delicious! With only a few seasonings, the dish lets you taste the sweet and nutty flavor of turnip best.
11. Bacon-Wrapped Scallops
I always love to have bacon and scallops on my table. This appetizer brings them all to me!
Bacon-wrapped scallops dish is elegant enough to appear as an appetizer in every single type of party, from a group gathering to a romantic and hearty dinner for two. It does well.
In less than 30 minutes, you can make these delicious, sweet, salty, and sparingly bacon-wrapped scallops. I repeat, less than 30 minutes.
Let’s see how you can make a restaurant-level of bacon-wrapped scallops in less than 6 mins.
12. Shrimp Scampi Dip
Shrimp scampi dip is a classic Italian dish that is worthy of being a delightful Fall appetizer. This plate is full of garlic, lemon, and herbs aroma that can cause you a feeding frenzy.
You can serve shrimp scampi dip with a side of garlic croutons, fresh sliced bread, or an assortment of crackers. When the dipping is good enough, anything to go with is not essential, right?
Try to make it on a rainy day, you will understand why it’s called comfort food.
13. Salmon Rillettes
How about bringing some freshness from the sea to your dinner? Salmon rillettes will surely do. The combination of Zepaltas, fresh salmon, and butter with hot-smoked salmon gives an extra-rich flavor to the plate. The taste can be customized by seasoning with salt, pepper, mayo, and lemon juice.
You can make it one day ahead. Cover and chill it. At dinner, serve cool rillettes with toasted sliced baguette.
14. Crab Artichoke Dip
Dipping is the fastest way to start a conversation. It’s even better now with this plate – a creamy and cheesy dish with artichoke hearts, parmesan cheese, and a load of crab meat.
It’s only 30 minutes to make this addictive plate. The good thing is that you can make it ahead of time. Head it up when you need it. The dipping plate is ready to serve after being topped with chopped chives or green onions.
In case you want a lower-fat version, try to use Neufchatel cheese or other substitutes for cream cheeses. On the other hand, you can make your dish tasty by buying fresh crab. The flavor of fresh seafood is always the best!
Savory Appetizer With Vegetables and Fruits That You Can’t Have Enough
Fresh, crispy, good for health, and low in calories – These savory appetizers made from vegetables will ensure you have a delicate opening for the party.
15. Bacon Lettuce Cups
Another quick and super easy recipe to prepare. These bacon lettuce cups will make you amazed by how simple an appetizer can be but still finger-licking.
The good thing about this dish is that you can freely choose the topping you want to go with bacon. An ideal recipe will go with vine-ripened tomato, crispy bacon, creamy avocado, tangy mayo, and garlic butter breadcrumbs. All of them stay inside fresh and crisp lettuce, waiting to fill your stomach.
A healthier version of the bacon lettuce cup is that you replace mayonnaise with greek yogurt.
16. Bacon & Apple Crostini
Bacon and apple crostini is my favorite apple-related appetizer during the Fall. It’s simple, quick, easy to make, and can be served within 15 minutes.
All you need to do is to layer crispy bacon, creamy brie, tender apples, and a delicious drizzle of maple syrup onto a freshly baked sliced baguette. Each bite of this crostini will bring you an experience of sweet and salty taste at the same time, combining with the tenderness from textures. Yum!
17. Whipped Feta Avocado Crostini With Pomegranate
Here is my favorite avocado crostini recipe. An easy and quick appetizer, but always being preferred.
This dish will surprise everyone with the unusual toppings of pomegranate arils, parsley, and feta cheese. The taste is distinctly Fall vibe with butternut squash, garlic, coriander, and a hint of sweetness.
18. Whipped Ricotta With Roasted Pumpkin
Pumpkin season is about to reach a whole frenzy in October; why not make some whipped ricotta with roasted pumpkin for your appetizer? You can swap types of nuts, oil, and seasoning variations to create your version.
Don’t worry if you are concerned about the sweet pumpkin taste. Although pumpkin usually appears in sweet recipes like desserts, this dish is thoroughly savored.
19. Prosciutto And Fig Salad Board
If your goal is to have a big board displaying all of the ingredients to make your guests more convenient to choose from, you will love this prosciutto and fig salad board. With prosciutto and fig, the appeal from this salad board will attract everyone.
The preparation is easy with little effort. To serve, first, you spread the spinach mixture on a flat board (a wooden board is my choice). Then carefully arrange the prosciutto and figs on top of them, sprinkling with blue cheese. Or it’s time for your creativity! Display them in the way you want.
But remember that it’s salad, so it should be prepared and served immediately to keep the vegetables fresh and crisp.
20. Pepita Guacamole
Pepita Guacamole is a perfect starter to serve at Fall lunches. The use of spice, including coriander and chipotle en adobo from guacamole, will bring your game up.
Pepita guacamole is traditionally served with corn chips, carb crackers, or veggie sticks. On the other hand, you can top it over taco or burrito or delicious Sopa Azteca. This robust and straightforward salad contains only healthy fats and potassium that are good for health!
21. French Onion–Stuffed Mushrooms
I guarantee that this French onion-stuffed mushroom dish will give your meal plan some classic vibes from France.
The taste will remind you of French onion soup but with an earthy aroma from freshly baked mushrooms. You should choose big mushrooms to make this dish. The suitable size of mushroom is large enough to carry the toppings but still perfect for a bite.
If you want to try this appetizer, plan the time well. You will need slow cooking to ensure the dish releases a naturally sweet flavor by itself.
22. Buffalo Brussels Sprouts
The sky sometimes is so gloomy in the Fall season. Vegetables are my good-to-go to light up my mood during these gloomy days.
My choice today is buffalo brussels sprouts. You prepare fresh brussels sprouts, then toss them with spicy and tangy buffalo sauce, add more fresh herbs, and crumbled cheese. That’s it!
The irresistibly crispy and crunchy texture, together with the unique flavor from Brussel sprouts, is enough to let you set it as an appetizer for your meal on a gloomy Autumn day.
23. Sweet Potato Bites
There are buttery sweet potatoes covered in sweet maple syrup, staying under some melted marshmallows and pecans. It’s tender, crunchy, and charming. You will like it right after the first bite. Moreover, the beautiful color of sweet potatoes will shine on the whole table. Plus points for the appearance!
Making this plate will take a little time, but the taste is worth it!
24. Spinach Artichoke Bombs
Bubbly, cheesy, creamy, delectable, etc. That’s all I can say about this dish. Serve it with some baked bread, displaying on a wooden board will bring your meal into the Fall mood right away.
The best way to make these gorgeous bombs is to bake them in a skillet (cast-iron skillet is the best option). A cast-iron skillet will allow you to bake the bomb browned evenly on the sides with a bit of crispy at the bottom.
Moreover, since it is made from cast-iron material, it will better hold on to temperature. Your Spinach artichoke bomb will stay warm longer!
25. Grilled Apples With Prosciutto and Honey
Too tired from preparing the whole meal plan for Fall welcoming dinner? Try this easy appetizer now.
The ingredients are all things for the Fall season. The plate includes chopped crispy apple, a fresh basil leaf, a slice of brie, all wrapped in salty, thin prosciutto, then drizzled with honey or balsamic. It’s so good, you know.
Tip: You can double or triple the layers to ensure that your guests don’t have to ask for more.
Sticky And Buttery Appetizers For the Cheese Fanclub To Enjoy The Season
I know that a cheese lover always craves the cheesy dish. And there are plenty of us who are cheese lovers! That’s the reason why appetizers made from cheese are suitable for gatherings or parties because they usually come with quite large portions. And well, you always gather together in this cherished season, don’t you?
26. Italian Bruschetta Bar
Need a fancy appetizer that can amaze all of the guests, right? Try this Italian Bruschetta bar. Simple but delicious, this bar meal needs to be noted down now.
The Italian Bruschetta bar combines many ingredients to ensure there is space for everyone. You can have vegetables like cherry tomatoes, basil, white beans, fruit, etc. It all depends on your gut.
The great thing about this appetizer is that you can freely create your version based on what is in your fridge right now. This dish will require a little effort in terms of setting up. It’s your showtime!
27. Antipasto Egg Rolls
Antipasto egg rolls are perfect if you love to create flavor combinations and watch people enjoy them pleasantly. Meat, cheese, vegetables – it all depends on you.
This dish is a good solution for some leftovers in your fridge. Nobody will even notice that you use things from last night’s meal. Moreover, you can use an air-fryer to make antipasto egg rolls. It will help cut down the calories considerably.
Even when you can’t finish all of these antipasto egg rolls in one go, you can still use them as exciting breakfast dishes to start a fall morning. Again, an air fryer can come into handy with this task – set the air fryer at 350F and leave the egg rolls inside for 2 minutes. Instant breakfast!
28. Maple Bacon Baked Brie
Bacon and maple syrup are everywhere when the Fall comes. Thus, I think it’s great that you can use these ingredients to make some appealing appetizers for Fall meals.
I can confidently say that your guests will be impressed with this maple bacon-baked brie. Why? Because this dish is a combination of savory bacon and Brandy mixture. Then there is sweet from pecans, brown sugar, and maple syrup for a deliciously nutty stuffing. All comes under a layer of bacon jam on top of two halves of a Brie cheese wheel.
The perfect way to make the brie is baking until the puff pastry is golden brown, then serve it immediately with crackers or crusty bread.
29. Baked Mac-And-Cheese Bites
What is a touch of classic cheesy dish for your dinner gathering? I will say it’s baked mac-and-cheese bites.
Easy to make, fun to eat. This mac-and-cheese in bite-size is not only for the kids. Additionally, you can top up with breadcrumbs and bacon for a more delicious taste.
You can serve these cheesy bites with a side of vegetables like broccoli, spinach, carrots, etc., or sauces or dressing like ranch or hot sauce.
If there are left-over, just store them in the refrigerator. You can conveniently reheat the chilled mac and cheese by the following day without worrying about the quality of the food. The delicious taste remains the same.
A great way to kick off the Falling season, right?
30. Fried Buffalo Goat Cheese Balls
Fried buffalo goat cheese balls are delicate, flavorful with an interesting crispy texture on the outside with creamy goat cheese on the inside. They don’t stop right here. After becoming crisp and easy to crumble, these balls will be tossed with buffalo sauce with a beautiful color. In that way, the dish is ready to serve.
The good thing is that you can do it ahead of time for better preparation. Remember to be careful with the kids while frying these cheese balls.
31. Three-Cheese Fondue
Besides dip, fondue is my favorite food for conversations. Warm fondue in this cozy season will loosen up all of your tiredness and worries.
If this is your first time doing fondue, I recommend you go with the three-cheese fondue basics. Nonetheless, if you are a cheese expert, you can try to mix the cheeses you like. The more, the merrier – this sentence also applies well for cheeses!
The secret of a successful three-cheese fondue is wine. Serve the fondue with a variety of crackers or bread you want. You will thank me later for this beautiful idea.
32. Herbed Cheese Ball
Fresh and herbal dishes usually become more prevalent during this relaxing time. The aroma from these dishes gets you relaxed.
To make this healing pill, you will need four kinds of cheese to make the base: ricotta, feta, ground parmesan, cream cheese, then mix with some fresh herbs such as parsley, dill, cress, or chives. The grassy flavor from herbs stands out attentively. You can add in some sliced almonds on the top for crunchiness.
33. Bloomin’ Brie Bread
I genuinely recommend you to make this appetizer if you want to impress your friends. It’s basically cheese and bread, but the appearance gets it into a whole level!
All you need are par-baked loaves of bread, a circle of brie (you can reference the Président brie), some optional toppings like cranberry bacon, onion jam, and a good baking machine. You can change the toppings to add delightful flavor to the dish.
After baking, display the bloomin’ brie bread on a wide party platter with extra crispy crackers and chunks of leftover bread. It’s a perfect brie bread when it’s crunchy outside but warm, soft, and tender inside with the luscious cheese oozing out.
No expensive ingredients but resulting in a fancy appetizer!

34. Garlicky Dipping Oil
I would recommend this appetizer if you have pasta as main dishes like creamy pesto pasta with shrimp or soups like lasagna or stuffed pepper soup. Garlicky dipping oil will remind you about authentic Italian cuisine immediately.
This dish is also perfect in case you need to set up a gathering dinner unexpectedly because this will only take you 10 minutes to do. To achieve excellent taste, you should use extra virgin olive oil and fresh rosemary.
My choice of dipping options will be crusty French or Italian bread.
35. Slow-Cooker Crab Dip
Slow-cooker crab dip is for all seasons of the year, including Autumn.
Hot crab dip is full of flavor with a creamy and cheesy texture. You will be pleased to eat it. Additionally, you can add a little bit of spicy seasoning to enhance the taste. It works remarkably on a rainy day.
The insanely delicious dish takes you just about 30 minutes to prepare. Remember to buy some extra chips, buttery crackers, crostini, baguette, or vegetables like carrots, celery, or cucumber to serve together with slow-cooker crab dip.
You should keep the crab dip warm when serving. If you made it before party time, keep it in a crockpot. Crockpot recipes to embrace the chilly fall like this crab dip might be simple to make, but the flavors it can bring about is as complex as it can get.
36. Potato Gratin Stacks
Nobody will say no to potato gratin stacks. These crispy and browned slices of potatoes contain cream and cheese are flawless to serve with filet, Pork Medallions, Salmon, Steak, Honey Glazed Ham, Seared Scallops, Baked Chicken Breast, or Turkey.
My tip to you is to choose starchy potatoes like russet potatoes, red potatoes, or gold potatoes for better texture results.
37. Bacon Spinach Dip
Here comes another dip recipe! The bacon spinach dip is a quick and easy appetizer for your dinner.
With these little monsters, you will enjoy crispy bacon, plenty of roasted garlic, and extra parmesan cheese in each bite. You can serve it with crunchy fresh vegetables, crackers, pita chips, or crusty homemade bread.
Sweet Appetizers For A Cozy Fall Meal
Sweet-flavored appetizers are less preferred, but the craving is still there. If the sweetness from crumbly fall-themed cookies is not enough to satisfy your inner sweet tooth, maybe these will.
38. Peanut Butter Dip
More dip recipes are coming in! This time, I want to introduce a dip for sweet tooth clubs – peanut butter dip.
The taste of this dip is the same as peanut butter cookie dough, but you can dip it in with various fruits. It is easy to make and pairs well with many side dishes. Try apple slices, waffle sticks, celery, or anything snacks you like to eat together.
This dip is attractive to the children. Hence, consider making a load if you are welcoming many families to your house. You can use greek yogurt in the recipe for a healthy choice.
39. Caramel Apple Cheese Ball
Try this caramel apple cheese ball, and you will realize this is the signal of the Fall.
Caramel Apple Cheese Ball is a ball coated with chocolate, toffee candy bar pieces, hiding inside a caramel, buttery cream cheese in the center. You can prepare the dish quickly or even ahead of time. If you take it from the fridge, you should let it sit for 15 minutes at room temperature to soften a little bit before serving.
The ball is usually served this appealing ball with Ritz or any buttery, flaky cracker you like. Their textures pair well with each other. Other foods that can bring in together with caramel apple cheese ball are fresh bread, pita chips, crostini slices, or tortilla chips.
40. Cranberry-Brie Bites
I once made this appetizer when I had a housewarming party for my new colleagues, and they couldn’t stop talking about that comfort food for weeks later. Try it, and you cannot regret it.
To have something with cranberry flavor in this season means you have stand-out food. Among those creamy and clingy Fall dishes, the tart, astringent with a red berry flavor of this fruit, will blow up your appetite.
These little cuties need only five ingredients to make within less than 30 minutes, so make loads of them. The bite-sized of these yummies will let your guests ask for more forever.
41. Caramel Apple Brie
When it comes to apple season, the list of apple recipes is countless! I want to introduce another appetizer recipe made from apple and brie to you – the caramel apple brie.
You will taste the sweetness and savory at the same time, under an exciting mixture of melted cheese and crusty bread. This dish can be in charge of both your opening and ending get-together occasions amazingly.
Foods to go with this hearty dish are pita chips or less-sugar buttery crackers (because the apples are already sweet enough). Display all on a wide platter and serve them immediately.
Let’s get an upgraded recipe, caramelized apple cherry & almond brie, with me in this video.
42. Pumpkin Pie Dip
Let’s see the main ingredients: pumpkin puree, heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, and maple syrup. Is it too delightful to have this no-bake cake in this earthy season?
It’s pumpkin pie but in a dip format, making it easier to addict with. The dip has an earthy pumpkin taste and an extra hint of sweetness and savory, so it pairs well with wafers, apples, or pretzels.
My cooking tip: The pumpkin pie dip should be cool off 30 minutes before serving, so watch out for the time.
43. Apple Pie Fries
Apple Pie Fries is apple pie with a blistering crust and a simple applesauce filling. They look like french fries but have the taste of delicious apple pie.
This dish is quick to make. You can prepare caramel sauce to eat with these crispy sticks. The best finger food for people to wait for your main dish!
44. Baked Brie With Honey, Garlic, And Rosemary
Sometimes, a classic is good enough for a brown and drab weekend when you don’t want to be a hassle in the kitchen. An easy and quick-baked brie with honey, garlic, and rosemary for an appetizer will save you.
This dish has an earthy balance between baked bread and fresh rosemary. To upgrade the game, you can add in some mixed roasted nuts on top. My note is to cook this in a cast iron to retain the heat, then keep the warm brie longer.
Tagging foods? Just go with simple slices of bread and crackers.
45. Pretzel Ring Beer Cheese Dip
One more pretzel recipe perfectly fits with the Fall season: pretzel ring beer cheese dip.
A standard pretzel has deep golden brown coated with cheese and chopped green onion. For the beer, you can use whatever kind of beer you are familiar with to cook. Cheese, beer, bread – I can’t think of anything else better.
Serve them after 5 minutes. Cool off from the oven to let the bread set. Everyone will jockey your platter until the last dunk!
Do You Get Enough Ideas For Fall Appetizers?
I’m curious about how many recipes you noted down and what dishes you will make this season. And if you have other unique ideas for Fall appetizers, don’t forget to share them with me. I also need to upgrade my meal plans too. Parties are coming!!!
If you like this post, like and share it with your friends. Moreover, I’m thinking about my next topic, so comment for me if you want to know more about any case.
