Our recreational cooking classes are designed for adults ages 18 and older. Classes are also offered for kids and teens — please read the specific class information to determine the appropriate class for your child.
For participation, please dress in comfortable, casual clothing, and closed-toe, low-heeled, or flat comfortable shoes. Open-toed shoes or sandals are not safe in the kitchen. We will have towels and aprons for you to use.
Students taking one of our Extended Courses are required to wear a chef's jacket and bistro apron, which can be purchased from L'Academie.
Menus are subject to change due to seasonality and availability. We will make reasonable accommodations for ingredients if we are notified ahead of time. Most ingredients can be omitted from a recipe.
Cellular phones should be placed on “vibrate” or turned off while class is in session. If necessary, you may use your phone outside the building. Talking on the phone in the classroom while class is in session is strictly prohibited.
Parking in Bethesda is difficult. We suggest the paid parking garage on Old Georgetown Road about 3 blocks from the school. L'Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg has its own parking lot.
If inclement weather is expected, please check our website or call (301) 986-9490 for class status. If you are calling during non-business hours, a recording will be on the voicemail.
Class cancellations must be received by a L'Academie representative at least 3 business days prior to the scheduled class by phone unless otherwise noted. We do not accept cancellations by voicemail. Cancellations for groups of 6 or more must be received at least 10 days prior to the scheduled class. Without exception, refunds will not be issued for any cancellation notice that does not comply with this cancellation policy. Registrations cannot be transferred to a new date. Cancellations for registrations more than 90 days past will be refunded in the form of a check or gift certificate.
We may cancel an upcoming class due to insufficient enrollment up to 3 days before the class date. Upon class cancellation, all students will be sent an email and/or contacted by phone and provided a full refund.
